MAINE (WGME) -- A new survey shows two thirds of likely Maine voters do not believe Senator Susan Collins deserves to be re-elected in 2026.

The survey, called The Pine Tree State Poll, was released Thursday by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.

It shows Mainers are deeply divided on their thoughts on Governor Janet Mills and their support for President Donald Trump, but the majority of respondents agreed they did not want Republican Sen. Collins to run for another term.

Overall, 71 percent of respondents said they did not believe she deserved another term, while 21 percent said she did. Among party lines, 84 percent of Democrats and 57 percent of Republicans said they did not want to see her run again.

If Sen. Collins wins in 2026, it will be her sixth term in the Senate.

Collins is the only Republican senator from New England, and the race is already gaining national headlines as democrats eye the possibility of flipping the seat.

However, UNH polling has been wrong about Sen. Collins before. She was projected to lose her last campaign in 2020, but went on to win easily with a roughly nine-point margin.

The survey was conducted using 911 Mainers between April 17 and April 21, 2025.
