Making something that matters. Giving it the time, depth and breadth needed to form as it was meant to be is not easy. It takes what I call, “patient urgency.” Urgency in the sense that as a creator and/or entrepreneur you are always pushing for what can be, always listening, always iterating, always discovering. Patient in the sense that no matter your urgency, the market, God, timing, the universe, etc will often dictate when a creation is meant to give birth into the world. I’m excited to announce the latest birth from Ubuntu Life - Café Ubuntu Coffee! As many of you know, Café Ubuntu was forged in the fires of #ConsciousCapitalism, brought to life through Ubuntu’s collaboration with Whole Foods Market, Allegro Coffee Company, and the Whole Planet Foundation. What began as a simple idea to build a community-centered café along the major trade and tourist route in #Kenya evolved into a partnership with the world’s largest organic food retailer, giving birth to Ubuntu’s journey into conscious capitalism. Today, that same spirit has brewed into something even more exciting: Ubuntu’s first subscription-based product, created in partnership with Spring Valley Coffee, the leading purpose-driven coffee brand in East Africa. We couldn’t be more stoked to share this next chapter of impact and connection…one cup at a time! ☕🌍 Get your Café Ubuntu #Coffee today, https://lnkd.in/duQecq_M, and join us in your daily ritual of living into a more interconnected, interdependent, loving global community. Big love to those friends who helped make this vision a reality, David Lannon, Tara Cross, Steve Wanta, Jeremiah Kuria, Amal Wilemon, Jim McDermott, Brian Cobb, CCIFP, Jeff Beaver, Stephen Vick, Ritesh Doshi …I am because we are…#UBUNTU! Exciting to see “Africa” as #4 on Gary Vaynerchuk consumer trends that will define 2026. Ubuntu Life is 25 years in the making & right on time! Starting to work with Ubuntu’s marketing, design and production teams now in anticipation of our best year yet. Any insights that we should be thinking about?? Please send my way. Big love!❤️ https://lnkd.in/dbGqsr8W

Last October, at our Sales Kickoff, I had bracelets made with #otps – Only The Paranoid Survive (thank you to the amazing makers at Ubuntu Life) These bracelets were meant to be a small reminder of one of Caylent’s cultural cornerstones: urgency, vigilance, and never getting too comfortable. Success should drive curiousity to constantly reinvent yourself. Fast forward to this week. I looked down and noticed one of our strongest technologists with that same bracelet clipped to his backpack. Almost a year later, he’s still carrying it with him. That moment struck me. Culture isn’t built in PowerPoint slides or kickoff speeches—it’s built in the daily reminders, the symbols, the things people choose to carry with them. For us, #otps is more than a motto. It’s a way of working: - staying paranoid so we never stop innovating - keeping urgency front and center - pushing ourselves to move faster than the market around us. Every time someone sees that bracelet, it’s a nudge: don’t let up. Keep moving. Keep building. Keep pushing to be better than the day before. That’s how culture powers an organization.

  • In the company of some incredible brands & entreprenurs! 🇰🇪 Just getting started!

Kenya’s sustainable fashion scene is setting the bar high. This sustainable style post is inspired by some of Kenya’s trailblazing brands, KikoRomeo, Enda Athletic, Inc., Adele Dejak, Ikojn, and Ubuntu Life, who are redefining fashion with purpose, creativity, and ethical values. We love seeing these homegrown visionaries leading the way, and we can’t wait to connect with more trailblazers shaping the future of fashion. #ASFWNairobi #Sustainablefashion #AfricanFashion #Kenyanfashion #designers

  • Child sex trade being exposed in our hometown of Maai Mahiu thanks to BBC News. The commercial sex trade is something that we have battled from the very beginning but never on this level. Creating jobs for women is one key way to combat these horrific events from happening. Our work continues…UBUNTU!

BBC News exposes child sex trade happening in Maai Mahiu, Kenya. Maai Mahiu has been home to Ubuntu Life since Day 1. 25 years ago when I first set foot in Maai Mahiu and started working alongside our Co-Founder Jeremiah Kuria, he introduced me to the painful complex realities of poverty in Kenya. We made a commitment to each other, to God and to the community of Maai Mahiu to focus all of our efforts on creating sustainable opportunities that empower the local community. Much of our passion came from meeting with commercial sex workers and hearing their heartbreaking stories of being trapped in poverty and having no way out. Since then we have created our hybrid nonprofit/for-profit impact model to address these issues & work with the local community to accomplish their goals, lifting themselves out of poverty and bettering their community. So painful to see even after 25 years that not only is prostitution still an issue in our hometown, but now child trafficking. A stinging reminder of how difficult this work is, how committed we must be to see sustainable change thru to its end and the need for persistence of faith in action to oppose such dark forces as these. ✨ Our Day Two | The Core Fashion Tour - One Year Anniversary Celebrations ✨ Ubuntu. “I am because we are.” Today, this truth came alive. At Ubuntu Life, we experienced more than fashion—we felt purpose woven into every thread. From apparel that speaks of dignity to programs that support children with neurological differences, Ubuntu Life embodies the heartbeat of collective care. Curated to deepen our understanding of Ubuntu, it was a celebration of shared humanity, love, and craftsmanship. Through the radiant energy of Amal and Zane (thank you Anna Trzebinski for the beautiful introduction), we felt the magic that happens when design meets impact. You all echo BIG LOVE. To the entire Ubuntu team— You had me at hello. And you reminded us that fashion, at its core, should always speak from the heart and for the people.
