Trying to make a reservation for December 19, 2024 but it will not let me do this?

It's probably because there are no more online reservations available. Taste of Texas is extremely busy during this time of year. On 12/2, I attempted to make a reservation for 12/19 between 6-8 pm. There were no reservations during that time slot,… more

Seated immediately with our reservation. The Texas decor was epic! We were greeted within a minute by our server.
She did an excellent job explaining the menu and concept for us first timers.
Server made excellent suggestions and was completely attentive to our table without being intrusive.
We were able to pick our steaks from a full ribeye and once cut by the butcher picked the desired level of marbling.
The salad bar was fantastic but the cheese knots were the star of the show for a couple of us. I've never had better bread.
Salad bar was fresh and had an excellent variety of options.
Cocktails were perfect and wine was exceptional.
Now the home run..... this was the best steak I've ever had in a restaurant and I've been in all the big name steak houses all over the world.
Cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, hot with every bite and full of flavor. The garlic butter topping the steak sitting on the sizzling plate was just whipped cream on awesome!
I'm sure the sides are excellent but the steak was so good I couldn't even try them. Will definitely eat them as leftovers.
Dessert was a giant piece of key lime pie. 4 of us shared the one dessert and it was plenty after that meal.
I won't go back to Houston without heading to Taste of Texas!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Shawna E.Pine Island, TX010Apr 18, 2025
Fantastic ALWAYS!! We go at least annually for our wedding anniversary. Service is spot on and they are such a TEAM--waiters who aren't even yours take care of any need that arises. I always pick my steak (don't like fat, lol) and meat is always always cooked to perfection! Oh--and the salad bar is on point! Can't go wrong with what my family calls "the big cow"!!

The service was superb. We were treated like royalty! The food was delicious and fresh. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and exudes a feeling of warmth and hospitality. We have gone back multiple times, especially for special occasions.

The only negative I have about this place is how hard it can be to get a reservation.
The food here is always amazing, steaks are perfectly cooked every time I've been. The salad bar is great, especially with the rolls.
They will even let you go to the back and pick your steak if you'd like. Ribeye is sold by the oz and they will cut it to whatever size you'd like.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Melody D.Houston, TXMay 12, 2025
Have you ever been so excited to try a restaurant on your bucket list and the whole experience turned out to be so grand you forgot to take a single photo the entire night to document as proof? Me.
Trust me, as a steak enthusiast, Taste of Texas is what you want on your must tries of Houston.
From start to finish, our dinner experience was meticulously attended for by our waiter who took his time explaining each and every step, dish, wine, and dessert.
We started off with appetizers that were highly suggested by him and other Yelpers (thank goodness for the photos!). For starters, the Quail bites were actually one of the best parts to the meal as each bite was super moist and the smokiness paired nicely with both sauces.
The options at the bottomless salad bar is quite the experience. It has every topping you could imagine, plenty of dressing options, and side breads that paired well with the rest of the meal.
If you're a first timer, the waiter will let you experience choosing your desired cut at the meat counter before it is thrown on the grill. Between the two of us, we shared a Cowboy ribeye which honestly was a slight bit dry on the outer most edges, given it was a pretty thick cut of meat. The parts closest to the bone had the perfect medium rare texture as you would expect for the premium price you are paying. We paired our steak with the Brussels sprouts and steak fries. The Brussels were a bit overwhelming as they get drenched in the bacon jam towards the bottom, making it too sweet for the palate.
Once you think you're getting absolutely stuffed with food, you better make room for the dessert because that is what topped off the night! We had the highly recommended pecan pie which was a slice that was as large as the steak itself! It is truly a Texas Pecan pie in every sense of the word.
Overall, Taste of Texas was a 4.5/5 in my book! Worth the hype and worth the wait!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Laura E.Katy, TXMay 5, 2025
To start with, this place has been on my list of places to try for a long, long time. It just hasn't aligned with my schedule so when my husband suggested we go for my birthday, it was a no-brainer.
We were seated right away and the decor and ambiance just screams "Texas," which is what I wanted to see so it fulfilled all expectations in that regard. Our server, Tasha was very knowledgeable and offered suggestions that were on point. She took the time to explain everything and made us feel confident in our options and choices.
The salad bar was outstanding. Everything was fresh with multiple lettuce options and literally a ton of different dressings. I sampled a bit of everything while my husband went with the healthiest options. One of the highlights was that you could shave the cheese for topping yourself from these huge bricks. Never seen that anywhere. Being able to grab your own rolls was a nice touch as well and the ones with the cheese in them were very good.
I went with the 6oz Filet with Blue Cheese. I enjoyed being able to pick out the cut and Medium Rare was done perfectly. My side was the Potatoes Au Gratin and those were done well.
My husband chose the Lobster Tails and they were cooked to perfection. Lobster is tricky because an extra minute can literally wreck it and turn it into a rubber tire. Very impressed with the presentations as well.
To top it off, I got a free dessert and it came with a sparkler they lit and they also took a picture that they gave us.
They knocked it out of the park and we will for sure return.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 10, 2025
Honestly was hesitant about this place with the name like Taste of Texas. The name reminded me of South of the Border or something and I didn't want to pay premium prices for texmex level of food.
Well, this place surpassed my expectations. I sat at the bar and came in on my own. So I didn't need a reservation. It was pretty packed on a Thursday night when I showed up. But it cleared out at the bar pretty quick. The all you can eat bread and salad bar really eases the price of the entrees. It was cool to go pick out my own center cut. Honestly, any of the ones they had would have been great. But choosing it is a diff experience. The place doubles as a museum and they have plenty of staff members to keep the place running.
My filet was cooked perfectly. I got the truffle butter and it was superb. Good portion of mushrooms for my side as well. I was definitely not disappointed in coming here!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - May 5, 2025
Chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner. The service was phenomenal and I really loved the plenty of options at the salad bar. The bread was the star of the buffet-style salad bar, warm and fresh. The steak was just alright- I'm picky about my steak and if I'm paying 60 bucks for a cut of meat I want it to be good. Though the flavor was nice, it was lacking in the size. The cut of meat should have been bigger for the price. The sides were great, can't go wrong with a baked potato and mac and cheese. I don't think I will be back, and personally have had better steak at texas roadhouse.

This was our first time visiting the Cinco Ranch/ Katy location and we will be back! Good location. Inside was beautiful and intimate.
Our waiter, Alan, was amazing! He was able to answer all our questions. Checked in on us and consistent but not overly annoying manner. Drinks were always filled. Service was amazing.
Food well... amazing! My husband had the dinner pork chop and I had the Akaushi Wagyu filet and shared the Mac and cheese with Caesar salads. All so good!
Great place to celebrate our anniversary!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 4, 2025Seated via Yelp Reservations
I have never had a bad experience here. From ambiance, food, and service, it's always stellar! The only downfall for me is the parking lot. It's always packed and I have to circle it a few times to find a spot. Otherwise, park on the street. My tip for those wishing to dine here, make a reservation. Otherwise you'll expect a wait.
I dined here to celebrate my birthday. So of course I ate well! Dinner for two, we had:
* 14 oz prime rib with potatoes au gratin - medium rare was juicy and tender, always my favorite here. The potatoes were so creamy and cheesy, yum!
* 10 oz filet mignon with garlic herb butter and steak fries - served in a hot plate and cooked rare, so tender!
* onion soup - first time trying and it was really good but big portion.
* crab cake - don't miss out on this, lots of crab meat.
* crème brûlée- served with a sparkler! It was yummy, the brûlée- not the sparkler :)
Of course we for the salad bar and bread basket. My husband stared at me while I downed my huge plate of salad and said there's no way I will have room for the prime rib. I proved him wrong! It's the toppings that they have, it makes the salad so good! I can never skip on the cinnamon butter for the bread.
If you've never been, give this steakhouse a try. It's one of my favorite in Houston.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
