Q: I’m thinking about getting my septum pierced, but I’m not sure if my nose shape is right. How do I know if it’ll work for me? -Taylor
A: The easiest way to solve this dilemma is to go consult with a trustworthy piercer. The only anatomy that can really prevent you from getting a septum piercing is if you have a deviated septum. That said, it’s best to let a piercer take a look at it to be sure. Another thing you could try is to simply buy a clip-on septum ring (we have some of those here) and see if you like the look. If it sits properly and it looks good on, you can feel reasonably certain that a pierced version will look the same. Happy piercing!
Q: So, I’m no model and I feel like some piercings would help with my self-confidence. My nose is my least fave feature, and I was thinking of getting it pierced so I’d like it more. Am I doing this for the wrong reason lol? Could this backfire and make it look worse? -Maya
A: This is actually a really great way to fall in love with features we otherwise struggle with. If you have a wall in your home that you don’t really like, you decorate it! Adding a piercing or a few piercings can really give you the confidence boost that you’re looking for. It’s harder to dislike a nose that is rocking gorgeous jewelry and beautifully done piercings. On the other hand, adding piercings can also make you more aware of that feature and even make you more self-conscious at first. It can take time to settle into new body modifications, but you just have to let that time pass and get comfortable before you make a decision about whether or not to keep them. Just make sure that you go to a top-notch piercer, as a poorly done piercing is not going to help the situation. There is no wrong reason to get a piercing and anything that will make you feel more confident and better about yourself is definitely a thing worth doing. Best of luck!
