Q: When you're getting your septum pierced what is it exactly? Is it more like skin like a lobe piercing or is it more like a cartilage piercing? -Gabrielle
A: The “sweet spot” that you often hear referred to in septum piercings, is a thing called alar cartilage. Although it is cartilage, it’s a softer and squidgier cartilage than the kind found in one’s ear. So, while it’s not like getting an earlobe piercing it’s less resistant and quieter than getting a tragus or helix piercing. This is why septums are often considered less painful to get pierced, because there is simply less resistance. If you have a nostril piercing, you’re liable to find a septum piercing to be a less painful experience despite being very near each other. Best of luck!
Q: I’m looking to add a little more personality to my piercings. What are some bold or quirky jewelry pieces that are trending right now for someone who likes to stand out? -Lily
A: One of the first things you might want to look at is threadless ends. If you have piercings that you can put a threadless labret post in, this is a great start. You can change out the ends as often as you like without having to remove the entire piece of jewelry. And threadless ends are available in every finish, every style, every look that you could possibly want, Everything from celestial themes, holiday themes, goth ends, gold and gemstone ends, there is literally no end to it. (Pun intended) You can go anywhere from lower priced to high-end glamour, depending on the look you like. Dangle jewelry is also fun, as it moves and draws the eye to your piercing. And another fun item is a really bold septum ring, or conch ring if you don’t have a septum piercing. Something really fashion-forward with a funky charm or colorful stones will definitely get noticed. Happy shopping!
