What can you wear in a nipple piercing?
Barbells
This seems rather self-explanatory. Nipple barbells are straight barbells, often with charm ends or gem-set ball ends. They are typically 14-gauge, although that is not always the case, depending on your anatomy. The most common lengths are somewhere between ½” (12mm) and 9/16” (14mm). Barbells can be as simple or ornate as you want them to be. They’re easily the most common style and if you opt for threadless jewelry, you can easily change the ends for an entirely new look.
Rings
Usually circular nipple rings are captive rings. These use light pressure to fit a bead or charm into the space of circular ring. They can be challenging to change on your own unless you have a captive ring opener tool. They’re great for a secure fit though and generally easy to find. Hinged segment rings are also an option for fully healed piercings. These are not advised for piercing with though because the seams can irritate a healing fistula and delay the healing process. If you find that you cannot wear circular jewelry comfortably but love the look, fear not! Nipple clickers are an easy workaround for this particular situation.
Shields
Nipple shields are a jewelry item that goes around the nipple or covers it like a cap. These use straight barbells to hold them in place. They tend to be quite ornate and not so much for everyday wear.
Chains
Nipple chains generally are a pair of barbells or rings, connected by a length of chain that dangles a bit for a glamorous touch. They may also attach to a matching chain necklace. Nipple chains may have dangle embellishments to make the whole look extra-stylish.
Faux or Clip-on Nipple Rings
These use clips or pressure to emulate the look of nipple piercings. Obviously, they aren’t for pierced nipples but act as a great way to “try before you buy” if you’re not sure whether or not you want to get the piercing done.
